JLPT now £55!
Yes, that's right, the JLPT now costs £55. How can it go up £5 a year? It should be half that price in any case! Ok, perhaps operating costs are higher due to fewer participants in the UK compared to Japan, but can double the Japanese application fee really be justified?

You've got to be kidding!£55 is akin to daylight robbery. I checked, over here, it's not even £40...

Ouch, that's expensive!
I just applied in Japan today (I commented in your other post just now) and it cost 5500 yen, so about £24. So it's DOUBLE!
Still, Darren, that's surely more incentive to pass, as it means you won't have to fork out again next year :)

Daylight robbery is a good way of putting it.
I'm sure it was about 5500 yen in Japan back in 2003, 2004 and 2005. I like the way the price hasn't changed much if at all.
Will paying more motivate me more? Yes, probably!

Mark,
You said you commented on my Japanese site? I'm sure I saw the comment earlier but I've lost it - I haven't accidentally deleted it have I?

Nope not on your Japanese site; on your earlier post here about JLPT (titled 'Applications').

Oh! Ok, I've replied on my 'Applications' post.

I've registered (on the last day, no less). After conversion, registration fees are less than £15. Mugging ahead!

SaffronSaris,
So you've finally decided to take the test? That's great. £15? They must be doing it for charity or something!
I finally applied today!
Christopher,
Thanks for your kind comment.
