Pension

Today we had a presentation on the pension scheme on offer at work. I have to say that it was quite enlightening as it's the first time I've ever been told about pensions in detail. Well, I say detailed, but there is only so much you can cover in an hour. Thinking about retirement doesn't seem as crazy as it did a couple of years ago. You've got to plan, haven't you?

Comments

yeah, definitely, especially when business cycles are shrinking in time. most people would probably be changing more jobs than the previous generations. coupled with increasing trends in contract employment and part-time work, i would say it is never too early to start planning AND start saving.

I only started thinking about pensions during my time in Japan where I was enrolled in a scheme automatically.

What I didn't realise is that once a pension starts, it doesn't stop until you die. I would have assumed once you had reached the bottom of your pot that would be the end, but of course, it doesn't work like that.
