Real authentic Chinese food!
This was in London Chinatown!
My ex-flatmates were from Hong Kong and Singapore. Both said that their parents told to drink coke when they were having a cold as a medicine! I couldn’t believe it! And they made me a chicken cooked with coke. I now think it’s true but the dish didn’t taste good…lol
Drinking Coke as a medicine? That’s what it was used for in the old days, right? I guess the sugar and caffeine in Coke nowadays might give you a quick boost, but other than that…
So chicken cooked with Coke isn’t just a ’speciality’ of the particular restaurant I went to?! I’m stunned.
I asked my mum and she has heard of it but never tried it.
Also there’s another version of the coke remedy where you heat it with some ginger and spring onion! Just ask thehy.
No way! Do the Chinese know something we don’t? I say ‘we’ but I guess, I shouldn’t!
