You know, today is the first day of my Christmas holidays. I woke up rested and happy.
Within half an hour or so of waking up I’m hit with a parking ticket violation. It’s a long story but our parking permit wasn’t on full display. I bet it’s the same inspector knows we have a valid permit but I guess it’s not in their favour to cut anybody any slack, even on Christmas Eve.
Another £120 or £60 if you pay quickly. Why does this kind of thing happen when you are trying to cut down on spending? That’s two fines in as many weeks.
If I had any sense of humour left, I needed it. The post man knocked at the door and hands me a parcel. Hang on, this parcel looks familiar: it’s my mobile phone that I’d posted back to Sony Ericsson two days ago! I had a horrible feeling this would happen.
I had reused an old jiffy bag which had my name and address on it printed in quite a large font. Because of this I wrote a big ‘From’ next to my own address and ‘To’ next to the even bigger Sony Ericsson address on the other side. Come on, use your eyes people!
I do love the festive season.

If your going to reuse an envelope, stick some paper over the original address. It’s not worth the hassle of trying to correct whats there.
Oh and before you get anymore. Saturday (Boxing day) isn’t being classified as a bank holiday, so if you drive somewhere you will have to pay or deal with the normal parking restrictions.
I always write the sender’s address and have done this before. The trouble was the way I folded up the package - making the return address in the centre of one side. That’s why I put the blatant ‘FROM:’ next to it. I’ll be more careful next time.
The post man said he’d sort it out. I hope it doesn’t arrive back here again early next week!
Seriously? Thanks for the tip - that’s a bit ‘un-giving’.
