The results of the 2008 Japanese Language Proficiency Test were delivered to UK addresses today.
Unfortunately I failed with a score of 63%. I knew the result wouldn't be a pass (70%) but was hoping it would be slightly better than this.

Unlucky Darren, おしかったね!
Was it the kanji that let you down most? Did you feel that on the day? I guess perhaps it shows that even once you have remembered the kanji one year, you can forget them again just as easily.
I took 2-kyuu and I only just scraped it with 255/400. The previous year I managed 350/400 on 3-kyuu so I was a bit disappointed, but obviously glad that I passed it. While the kanji was ok I felt that the 2-kyuu vocab was nasty this year compared to the years of mock tests I did. I wonder if 1-kyuu was similar.
Will you take it again this year?
[Minor edit]
Yes, as always kanji/vocab was my weak point. Well, I’m sure I had forgotten many kanji over the year between each test, but then again I had learnt new kanji/vocab.
As the same words are not tested in consequtive years it could just be that I was unlucky last year or lucky the year before. Like you, I found the 2008 test significantly harder than past tests.
It’s hard to say really, but I suspect my kanji/vocab level has dropped overall.
Well done on passing level 2. Passing level 2 the year after 3 isn’t an easy task. In fact, that’s a great achievement so don’t be disappointed with your score.
I’ll have to think about this year’s test, but I may take it again.
Sorry to hear you didn’t pass. I remember you saying how hard the exam was in a post just after you sat the exam.
You should take it again. Don’t let it beat you.
Thanks. Yeah, it was very hard last year.
My plan is to keep taking it, pass or fail, but £50 down and a fail is painful!
